Slots and Skippy and Screech, Oh My...

October 30, 2001

Sunday in Vegas we woke up early with the kids. Delores got back from spending the night with her friends and offered to take the kids to breakfast so that we could meet Michelle and Albert and Diego. Only Michelle and I kept missing each other and it just didn't work out the way we planned. When they were getting ready to go to breakfast, we decided to join them. So everyone (us, Delores, the kids, and Stephen's parents, and aunt and cousin) had breakfast together (at the buffet), which was nice. After breakfast, Delores took the kids upstairs to wait for Kevin and Nicole, and Stephen and I went back over to Ceasers for a bit. We played some 3 card poker, which I lost at, and then while Stephen continued to play I went to play the slots. I did much better at them, and actually won a little. By this time Stephen had lost his money, so we walked over to the Mirage to see the white tigers... How cool. It was awesome. Stephen decided to play some more 3 card poker there, but I didn't feel like it, so I walked around the mirage... very beautiful and a lot to see. I enjoyed it. I did stop to play a few hands of war, and won at that. But I took my winnings and ran pretty quick, so who knows if I would have had a winning streak or not. By the time I got back to Stephen, he had lost more of his money (this was so not his lucky day, he lost most of what he won Friday night.. the rest we had spent). After that, we walked back to Harrahs and ran into the gang. Delores told me that Michelle called and said that they were coming to Harrahs and would look around the casino, so we stayed around there for the rest of the day. I never did run into her, so I was sad for that...

We all decided to go to the improv that night though, so we stopped and bought our tickets for that, and then went up to take showers and stuff. Afterwards, we headed back down to the casino to hang out. Stephen went to go lose some more money, and I played at the slots.. I won, hehe... and moved to another slot machine, which I won at... and again another... I should have been betting big money, instead of the nickle slots, it was my day... but I am too chicken to really bet big. Oh well. I had fun.

We got to the improv a few minutes early and looked around some. We were checking out who was playing there...Stephen had told me earlier that it was Skippy (Marc Price) from Family Ties, and Screech (Dustin Diamond) from Saved by the Bell as well as Ronnie Schell from Gomer Pile. I was kinda excited about that. It turned out to be a wonderful show and we laughed so hard. We had seats right in the front, and Stephen even ended up being a part of the show, when Ronnie Schell borrowed a cigarette from him (for some reason, he was smoking in Vegas, so was his mom, and Aunt, who normally don't)... and then later, when Skippy decided that he was going to cure Stephen's smoking habit and stuck his cigarettes up his nose.. and then put them back in the pack and mixed them up. Needless to say Stephen did not smoke that pack, and didn't smoke at all the rest of the Vegas trip, LOL. It is a much longer story, but I am tired of telling it, hehe. Needless to say we had a great time, and laughed a lot. After the show, they even signed the cigarette pack and took pictures with us. I can't wait to get them developed and see how cute they are.

After the show, we went up to the rooms and re-told all the jokes to the old folks, hehe. We were cracking up again. Then, Delores, Vocky and I decided to go over to the Casino Royale (where they had quarter roulette) and Aunt Jar decided to go with us. Stephen said he lost enough money that day and was going to stay and hang with his mom and dad.. so off we went. We were finally able to get on the 50 cent roulette and used our free 5 bucks (we got 5 buck coupons for signing up for a card).. and I won on the first spin... 13 came in, and so I got a lot for what I had bet... I won one more spin, and then lost one, and decided to quit and keep my winnings. It certainly helped make up for what Stephen lost that day. That is what we did the whole weekend... when I won, he lost and vice versa... we probably ended up pretty even, maybe a little down... who knows, but we had tons of fun, and that's what mattered to us.

We had to get up early on Monday to get to the airport for our return flight, which was not as smooth as the one going there. We flew thru some pretty scary storms, but we made it alright, and made it home safely. The time change about kicked my butt and I was exhausted for the first 2 days... or maybe it was the lack of sleep in Vegas.. but I had such a wonderful time, and that is some place that I would most definitely go back to visit... Maybe next year when Stephen's parents and Aunt and Cousin go (they go once a year) since they get so many comps... hehe.. worked for me!
