A Bunch of *Boobs*...

February 22, 2001

Well this has been a fun week full of comical errors. Well maybe not so comical at the time, but I can laugh now, giggle. See!

Let's see... the electricity went out on Tuesday. It's finals week, not the best time for that to happen let me say. Accoring to the maintenance *boobs*, it wouldn't be on until Wednesday Evening, which caused everyone to scramble and find a way to work things out. See, the Security *boobs* were not even letting us into the building without security escort, oh yay. Well, we had exams on Wednesday, one today and one tomorrow, and they were not even ready. So Walt (my boss) calls me on Tuesday and says that he has gotten us a security escort into the building on Wednesday, and could I meet him here at 9. We planned to run an extension cord from a red line (a line hooked up to the emergency generator) to our computer, to print our exams out, so that we could take them to one of the other buildings on campus to xerox. Not a problem. Then Stephen's boss calls and asks him to come in in the afternoon, to help set up the exam that they had to reschedule. So imagine everyone's surprise when we get here on Wednesday morning to find the electricity working... Helloooo. Half of our building didn't even come into work since they were told it wouldn't be on. And since I had to get home so that Stephen could come in, I just worked about 2 hours to get our exams ready and then went home. I was home by 11, yipppeee, my kind of day!

Today things are back on track, at least as far as work hours are concerned.. but it doesn't necessarily mean that the comical errors are over. Nope, they are just beginning. Let's call it a week lost and all go home, giggle. Yesterday as I was leaving work, I asked Mike (a department faculty member) what time our exam was for today, and he looked it up, and said 8. Okay, I can handle that.. it means I need to be here by 7:30, but okay. So I get up extra early, and fret about getting to work on time since we got snow overnight, and it was still snowing which meant that traffic was not cooperating. I manage to make it on time, yay for me. Walt and Mike go to set up for the exam, but Alex, Jake and Ken (other faculty members) are not here (hmmmm, where are they). Also, since this is our final exam for the quarter, administration has the students fill out questionaires on our course and faculty, and they haven't been delivered either. So it's super Vicki, running all over campus locating all this stuff that just hasn't been taken care of like it should be. I get them to bring the evaluations over, as they are scratching their heads wondering how they could have gotten our exam time wrong. Then I come back to my office. And happen to glance at the schedule.... Okay, I laughed, I admit it, and I laughed all the way across campus to the room that we are scheduled to have our exam in. Our exam is not until 1:10!!!!

Walt said, now how did we get this wrong. Got me! So we had to pick up all the exams and materials, and the evaluations we insisted on having. Then we had to decide who was going to go to the administration building and let them know that we screwed up not them. I volunteerd. Walt said to just tell them "My Boss is a Boob". I laughed, and then he said "and I will tell anyone who asks, My Secretary is a Boob, she messed up". I said "wait a minute, Alex is course-coordinator, let's blame him"... So basically, we are just a whole bunch of boobs on this one, and we still have an exam to give this afternoon.. Oh yay, I HATE afternoon exams. The students want their grades right away, I may be a boob, but I am not a super boob...

Okay, this has been the day from hell! I am not even joking about that, it was funny at first, but I've lost my patience by now. Anything and I do mean anything, that could possibly go wrong today has... and then some. I won't even start getting into it all, because then I would have to relive it, and believe me, that is the last thing I want to do. Let's just say that I cannot WAIT to get home tonight. I think that I might even go home and have a glass of wine that is left over from my pampered chef party. I am so not a drinker, I drink a few times a year, and that's an over-statement... but today, I could drink a gallon of wine, I bet. I can't wait to get home....
