Florida - Monday, June 17th...

June 27, 2002

When Jen got here to pick me up, we were all so excited and anxious to get on the road. We tossed all my stuff in the van, and to give Jen credit, she barely complained at all about all that I packed, lol. Actually, she didn't complain at all. We were just ready to get going, and to get our vacation started. The kids were wonderful during the ride too, and I know that it made it that much easier for Jen to enjoy herself. We stopped a few times, for potty breaks, and then again to have lunch. Jen had packed a wonderful lunch with sandwhich stuff (thanks again Jen) and we found a nice rest area to stop and sat in the picnic area for a bit. I ran around with the kids a little, and got some energy out. They really were so good, and I was so proud of them. I know Jen was too.

Once we got into Tennessee we were all beside ourselves with excitement. The day seemed to fly by and it didn't feel like we were in the car quite as long as we were. We had talked to Tonya earlier, and she was so anxious for us to get there (we talked to Cory too, giggle.. we kept saying how much we wished she was with us, we were missing her). I told Tonya that we could call her when we were getting closer, so we called her when we were about an hour away, and she was so excited and ready to meet us. She got to the hotel just a minute or two after us, it was perfect timing. We found our room, and had so much fun when we got out of the cars, running around, hugging and squealing about our trip. I always love it so much when we finally get to see Tonya, and it was a great reunion.

Tonny had her mom with her, and it was so wonderful to finally meet her. I can see where Tonya gets her sweetness...she seems to be very much like her mom. The kids were all excited to see each other as well, and the mood was just so happy. We let the kids go swimming for a bit, while we sat around the pool talking and catching up. Then it was time for Tonny's mom to take her girls and go. Tonya was so sad saying goodbye to them, but we really were so ready for this trip.

After they left, we decided to go out and get some dinner. Neither Jen nor Tonya could believe that I had never been to the Cracker Barrel, and so it was off to there we went (and thus start our tour of Cracker Barrel's across the country, giggle). We had a wonderful dinner and a wonderful time shopping there as well. We couldn't stop talking about everything, and we were really just so excited about being together. The night really seemed to fly by, much as the whole day had.

When we got back to the room, Tonya and I decided to go swimming with the kids, while Jen opted to stay in the room and get some rest. Tonya and I first stopped in the workout room (well if you can call it that, there were 2 treadmills and a bike, lol) and we worked out for half an hour before we headed out to swim with the kids. We had fun with them, but the pool was very heavily chlorinated, and our eyes were killing us before to long. Still we stayed and played, and spent some time in the hot tub too. We were exhausted by the time we were done, so it was back to the room to get some sleep. It was a perfect day, and a great start to our wonderful vacation.
