Tradition

This past weekend was absolutely wonderful! We celebrated Jen�s birthday and we did it up in wonderful fashion. Jen is not always the most easy person to surprise (not as in surprise, you don�t know something� but more of surprise in the wow factor), and we truly spent a lot of time this year going over the options, trying to pick the perfect celebration for her birthday. I would like to say that we were completely successful. There was no hiding, nor denying, how much she loved every minute of it. Her feelings were very evident on her face, and in her tears. It was very emotional, in a great way.

We knew that one of Jen�s all time favorite movies is Fiddler on the Roof. We also know that she enjoys things like the theatre compared to more outdoorsy- or girly-activities. So the thought started out that we could go to a play, but when we began to look to see what was playing, where, on this particular weekend, we never imagined that the perfect idea would fall into our laps. While some of us might have had doubts about the plan in general, when we saw that Fiddler on the Roof was playing, those doubts flew out the window. It was just so perfect, so Jen.

The play was wonderful, and it was even more so wonderful in getting to watch her true delight. I cannot even explain how much it touched my heart to see her excitement and watch her smile and tears. It was so genuine. Dinner beforehand was awesome too. Somehow there was no doubt there, as we always have fun when food is involved, hehe.

Jen came back to spend the night after our evening out, and while we were too tired to really do anything much more than go to bed, it was just nice being together. Cory and Andy joined us on Sunday morning, and the fun began. We had a ton of food to munch on, and we watched Fiddler on the Roof and had a lot of fun just playing with the little guy. It was a great day and a wonderful end to a great weekend. Happy Birthday Jen.. I know it�s not your birthday yet, but it really was just such a great celebration, and I am feeling very emotional about it, hehe. Our new TRADITION of doing special things for each others birthdays is really becoming something I look forward to. I hope that it's a tradition that we keep for a long time to come. I really think that the memories that we've been making are ones that are going to last a lifetime.
